Fans took a dig at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as it invited applications for one member of the Men’s Selection Committee on Thursday. The Indian cricket board posted about two job vacancies- Member of the Men’s Selection Committee and Head of Sports Science & Medicine/Academy Physio, State Cricket Association. However, there was no mention of the Chief Selector’s post which has been vacant since Chetan Sharma stepped down.
Sharma gave up the Chief Selector position after he was involved in a controversial sting operation wherein he revealed insider details. Shiv Sunder Das has taken over as the Chairman since then and as it seems from the vacancy posted by BCCI, he will continue to head the selection committee.
There have been reports floating around that the low package (1 crore per annum) offered by BCCI has posed as a major roadblock in the board getting on board a high-profile name as the Chairman. But now, with BCCI seeking only a member to join the committee, it seems the Indian cricket board is not interested in hiring a new Chairman.
Fans take a dig at BCCI!
The post from BCCI about this job vacancy attracted quite a few reactions from fans on social media. While a few took a dig at the Indian cricket board saying it won’t change things, a few fans wanted to get on board, claiming that they would do a better job than any of the selectors.
Check out the reactions.
It will be interesting to see who will be selected by the BCCI. Nevertheless, the fans are having their bit of fun by bombarding the Indian cricket board with their CVs.
