The Indian cricket fraternity expected a lot from Rahul Dravid when he was made the coach in 2021. But Team India failed to win even a single trophy in all the major tournaments it played. At present, India lost a five-match T20I series against West Indies 2-3 when they lost the last match by eight wickets at Lauderhill, Florida on Sunday (August 13). Dravid’s statement after the loss only increased the anger of the fans.
Dravid claimed that the Men’s ODI side is different than this T20I side which lost the series against West Indies. At the same time, he addressed the major issue which is hindering India’s performance. According to Dravid, India do not have a depth in batting which is the major concern for them.
“Our one-day team is really different from the squad we have here (for T20Is). In terms of the squad we had here, it didn’t allow us the flexibility to be able to change the combinations. But going forward, we have to look at certain areas in which to get better- finding depth in the batting is an area we are trying to address,” Dravid told reporters at the press conference after India’s defeat in the fifth T20I.
Twitterati criticized Rahul Dravid again for his statement
Fans cannot accept Rahul Dravid’s statement of having a different ODI team that promises to do better because the ODI World Cup is inching closer. They started foreseeing another heartbreaking ouster of the Men in Blue from the prestigious tournament.

From Rahul Dravid’s statement on batting depth, it seems India are searching for all-rounders. In the T20I series, several senior players were rested for workload management or due to injuries. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli did not feature in the series nor did all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.
Jasprit Bumrah, the star spearhead, will make a return to the side for the upcoming Ireland series. All of them, except for Jadeja, are either batting or bowling specialists.
