The fourth T20I between India and Australia will be played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh stadium in Raipur on Friday (December 1). Before the start of the match, reports emerged that said the stadium wouldn’t be having electricity during the match.
The reason for this is that the electricity bill has not been paid since 2009. The stadium has to pay a whopping Rs 3.16 crore, but as that hasn’t been paid, the electric department cut down on the electricity five years ago. After the electricity was cut down in 2018, a total of three international cricket matches were played there.

The Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association (CSCA) has reportedly requested a temporary electricity connection. But that doesn’t cover the full stadium. To stop the floodlights problem, generators will be used.
We can't comment on the previous dues of the department that the stadium was under prior to CSCS coming in. That connection was dues maybe there was in the name of the relevant government department.Jubin Shah, President-CSCS said (via NDTV).
Notably, the Public Works Department (PWD) was given the stadium’s maintenance responsibilities and the Sports Department was to handle the remaining expenses. The two departments have been blaming each other for not paying the bill.
India lead 2-1 in the series
India and Australia started playing the five-match T20I series just a couple of days after the conclusion of the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. In the first T20I, India chased down 209 runs to win by two wickets.

India then won the second T20I by 44 runs by restricting Australia to 191/9 when they were to chase 236 runs. In the third T20I, Glenn Maxwell’s century helped the Aussies chase 223 runs. The fifth T20I will be played on Sunday (December 3).
