It is one of the nine stadiums in India where the World Cup matches will be played. The pitch is notorious for being only bowler-friendly. The batters have found it extremely difficult to score the runs here. The track attracted criticism when Hardik Pandya while leading India against New Zealand, called it a “shocker” of a pitch after a low-scoring T20I match. However, after the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL), the pitch underwent renovation.
Talking about the international records in ODIs at the Ekana stadium, only West Indies’ Shai Hope could smash a century here. He scored 109* against Afghanistan in November 2019.
Meanwhile, a total of 48 matches will be played between October 5 and November 19. After the group stage, the four teams topping the points table following playing in a round-robin format will qualify for the semifinals.
