The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is gearing up to host the ODI World Cup matches in 2023. Apart from Bengaluru, a total of 48 matches will be played in nine other venues.
The Cricket World Cup starts on October 5 between England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Bengaluru will host its first match on October 20 between Pakistan and Australia. A total of five matches will be played here.
The stadium has a capacity of 34,000. A total of seven matches of ODI World Cups are played here (one in 1987, one in 1996, and five in 2011).
The small grounds makes it one of the most batting-friendly stadium in India. The batting-friendly pitch makes the matches the most interesting to watch as the batters usually wreak havoc with their fours and sixes.

It was here when Ireland’s Kevin O’Brien smacked the fastest century in the ODI World Cup (off 50 balls) against England. However, the pitch usually slows down as the match progresses which usually ends up assisting the spinners in the later stages of a match.
The highest total in ODI scored here was in 2013 between India and Australia (383/6). The highest run chase here was by Ireland when they went past England’s 327 by totaling 329/7.
It was here India captain Rohit Sharma blasted one of his double century (209). Sachin Tendulkar has scored the most runs here (534). This year, after the Indian Premier League (IPL), the stadium hosted all the matches of the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 tournament.
