Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has shown reluctance toward playing their team in Ahmedabad for the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. According to the latest developments, Pakistan analysts have started examining the data regarding the venues for its team and they have expressed their desire to play on a spin-friendly track in Chennai against Australia instead of Afghanistan.

Though the International Cricket Council (ICC) insisted Pakistan play its matches against India in Ahmedabad, the PCB has to take the approval of the government for the same. Owing to this, the announcement of the official schedule has been delayed. The prestigious tournament will start in October and will end in November. ICC has insisted Pakistan play their match against India in Ahmedabad due to revenue reasons as the largest cricket stadium in the world can accommodate 100,000 spectators.

The recent development regarding venue issues came to light after Pakistan’s analysts examined the data of the venues their team will play at. Some authorities accused India of intentionally proposing venues that are not suitable for Babar Azam and Co. for various reasons like “pitch conditions, practice facilities, and travel arrangements.”

The reason why Pakistan’s analysts chose Chennai’s pitch to play Australia and not Afghanistan is due to the spin-friendly track as it is expected to aid the talented Afghan spinners. These analysts have provided PCB with comprehensive data regarding the pitches such as how they will favor the spinners, and pacers or how they will aid the batters as well.
