“A freaking win”- CSK register biggest victory of the season; pack Delhi Capitals for 117

Moeen Ali, Devon Conway. and Ruturaj Gaikwad
Chennai Super Kings bundled out Delhi Capitals by 91 runs on Sunday, May 8 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
With a huge total of 208 played by CSK batsmen, this time, they were able to defend it successfully and with a good margin. With Devon Conway (87) and Ruturaj Gaikwad’s (41) 110-run partnership, Shivam Dube’s 32 and a quick cameo by MS Dhoni’s unbeaten 21 off 8, CSK crossed the 200 run-mark for the fourth time this season. They also top the list of most 200 run-target (23) in the IPL history.
DC started their innings with David Warner and Srikar Bharat. CSK’s Simarjeet Singh dismissed him in the 2nd over. Maheesh Theekshana then sent back David Warner for an lbw.
Theekshana’s ball skidded through and Warner got rapped high on the pads. Umpire had raised his figner but Warner took it upstairs and Ultra-edge showed that there’s no bat involved and Ball Tracking showed that the ball was just hitting the off stump. So, it was upto the on-field umpire to decide; Warner wasn’t happy as he walked back. In the next few overs, CSK got rid of five batsmen for single digit scores.

“It’s not the end of the world”- MS Dhoni

Then Delhi looked as if they are playing test matches but Shardul Thakur then scored 24 runs in 19 balls but in the 18th over Dwayne Bravo sent him off.
Rishabh Pant was playing 21 off 11 balls and had hit 4 fours, but in the 10th over, Moeen Ali then worried the Delhi dug-out after dismissing him.
Moeen Ali bagged three wickets, Mukesh Chaudhary, Srikar Singh, and Dwayne Bravo picked two wickets each; Theekshana picked one wicket. It was CSK’s fourth win in 11 matches and at the 8th place on the points-table, while DC have won 5 in their 11 matches and are currently occupying the fifth place on the points-table. Devon Conway wins his maiden IPL Man Of The Match Award for his brilliant 87.
” I have to give credit to MS Dhoni , because I got out trying to play the sweep in the last game, and he told me to look to play straight and use my feet today,” said Devon Conway in the post-match presentation when asked about sweep shots and down the track.
While MS Dhoni, when he was asked about the playoffs, said: “Thinking of the NRR doesn’t help. You just want to enjoy the IPL. You just have to think about what to do in the next game. If we make the playoffs, great. But even if we don’t it’s not the end of the world”.
