“Playing Test match in powerplay,” Virat Kohli trolled for his 19-ball 18 against RR

After a flying start in the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), runs have dried up for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Virat Kohli. While the former RCB captain managed three half-centuries in the first four matches at a decent strike rate, Kohli is failing to score big as well as quickly. Virat Kohli once again fell cheaply on Sunday as RCB took on Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium.

The RCB opener was dismissed after scoring a 19-ball 18 by KM Asif. During his brief stay at the crease, Kohli struggled to score freely. The batter could only manage a solitary boundary in his inning. The star batter failed to spot a change in pace by Asif and handed a dolly to Yashaswi Jaiswal at extra cover.

This sluggish batting from Kohli attracted quite a few reactions from the fans on Twitter. Most of them were displeased to see Kohli struggling to score freely.

Although Virat Kohli failed to make a contribution, RCB captain Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell soaked all the pressure as the duo stitched a 69-run partnership for the second wicket. While du Plessis was dismissed after scoring a 44-ball 55, Maxwell took the RR bowlers to the cleaners in the middle overs and scored a 33-ball 54.

On the back of these two knocks and a nice little cameo from Anuj Rawat (29* off 11 balls), RCB posted a good total (171/5) on the board. In the second innings, it was all RCB at the SMS. The Faf du Plessis-led team bundled RR for a mere 59 to win the match by a massive 112 runs. With this win, RCB made a massive jump in terms of Net Run Rate along with earning two crucial points.
