After whitewashing New Zealand 3-0 on Tuesday, India, who previously stood at No.3 leaped to the top with 114 points, by replacing England who had reached the top after New Zealand’s loss to India in the second ODI. This is also India’s second consecutive clean sweep; they previously whitewashed Sri Lanka 3-0.
Chasing the target, Devon Conway (138 off 100 balls) stitched crucial stands, but Shardul Thakur (3/45) and Kuldeep Yadav (3/62) kept giving regular breakthroughs. Soon, the Kiwis got bundled out for 295 in 41.2 overs. Shardul was awarded the Player of the Match, while Gill took the Player of the Series trophy for amassing 360 runs in the three-match series.
