India youngster Prithvi Shaw is in sublime form right now as he broke multiple records after his whirlwind knock of 244 runs off 153 balls for Northamptonshire against Somerset on Wednesday (August 9) at the County Ground. He scored his maiden century off 81 balls in the One-Day Cup tournament and accelerated his innings to convert it into his double century.
This was his second double century in a 50-over format. He reached the 200-run mark off just 129 deliveries. Previously, Shaw reached 200 in the 2020-21 Vijay Hazare Trophy where he hammered 227* while playing for Mumbai against Puducherry.
“Definitely an experience for sure. Not really thinking what the Indian selectors may be thinking, but I just want to have a good time here, have a good time with the players over here and the support staff. Northamptonshire has given me this opportunity. They’re really looking after me. I’m really enjoying it,” Shaw said after the match.

Prithvi Shaw broke multiple records after his 153-ball 244 runs
With his flurry innings against Somerset, Prithvi Shaw recorded his highest List A score. He surpassed England’s Ollie Robinson’s 206, which he slammed in 2022 for Kent in the One-Day Cup.
The 23-year-old recorded the second-highest score in List A cricket in England. Ali Brown stands atop with 268 runs which he scored in 2002.
The Mumbaikar became the first batter to slam a double century in two countries (India and England) and for two teams (Mumbai and Northamptonshire). For Northamptonshire, Saif Zaib used to lead with 136 runs which Shaw broke with his 244. The India youngster has now joined India skipper Rohit Sharma to record multiple List A double hundreds.
