Ravindra Jadeja
India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is looking forward to making a comeback to the international side. After being away from competitive cricket for five months, Jadeja walked on the field and is leading Saurashtra against Tamil Nadu on Tuesday (January 24) in the ongoing Ranji Trophy match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. His priority while playing will be to gain 100 percent fitness.
Jadeja is leading Saurashtra in the absence of Jaydev Unadkat and Cheteshwar Pujara. The senior all-rounder sustained a knee injury on August 31, 2022, in a match against Hong Kong in Asia Cup. This injury also kept him away from the all-important T20 World Cup 2022. After the injury, he went to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for rehabilitation and also underwent surgery.
He was named in the 17-member squad for the first two matches of the Gavaskar-Border Trophy, but his availability is subject to fitness. The first Test is slated to start on February 9. He has been one of the most valuable assets for Team India, especially in the longest format.

Ravindra Jadeja wants to get 100 percent fit, then he’ll work more on his skills
“I am feeling good to be back on the field. Very excited. Hopefully, it will come good as a team and as an individual also,” Jadeja told reporters ahead of the group B match in Chennai. “See my first priority is to get on the field and be fit 100 percent fit. Once I am 100 percent fit, I will work more on my skills, whether it is batting or bowling. Now, my first priority is fitness.”
Jadeja later said that he had suffered a ligament injury and expressed his disappointment in getting injured “at your peak time“. “I wanted one game before the Australia series, that’s why I am here,” he added.
During his time off the field, the southpaw was campaigning for his wife in the Gujarat elections. He told the reporters that his full focus was on the campaign and that it helped him a lot as he wasn’t thinking of cricket much. He didn’t even watch many India matches. India cricket fraternity is also eagerly waiting for his comeback and to see the famous ‘Sword’ celebration.
Meanwhile, at the time of writing this article, Tamil Nadu scored 39 for the loss of one wicket after choosing to bat first. Jadeja has bowled three overs and conceded four runs so far.
