With an incredible display of fine cricket from Rajat Patidar, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Lucknow Supergiants in a thriller by 14 runs on Wednesday, May 26 at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata.

Rain had delayed the match by an hour and ten minutes. Rajat Patidar slammed a 49-ball century while Josh Hazlewood bagged three wickets in powering RCB to Qualifier 2. Patidar went on to score an unbeaten 112 runs off just 54 balls. In the last five overs, Patidar was brutal as he smashed 84 runs. Dinesh Karthik provided the much needed support and finishing touches with his quick-fire, smashing an unbeaten 37 runs and the Royal Challengers posted a massive 207/6.

The hero of the match, Rajat Patidar wasn’t even got selected at the mega auction and it was because of an injured Luvnith Sisodiya that Patidar got off the benches. In this match, he walked out to wait for some time before unleashing a brutal attack on the so famed bowlers of LSG, pacers and spinners entertaining the energetic crowd of the Eden Gardens who will remember the knock for a long time. RCB will face Rajasthan Royals in the Qualifier 2 on May 27.

At the post match presentation, Rajat Patidar said : “When I time the ball, my focus was on it. The last over of the powerplay when Krunal was bowling to me, my execution went fine then and I got confident afterwards. The wicket was pretty good and I played some good shots. I never feel any pressure as I think I have the ability to make up for the dots. I was busy after the 2021 IPL playing for my club. I wasn’t picked after the 2021 IPL but that wasn’t in my control.
