India’s women’s wicketkeeper batter Richa Ghosh scripted history on Thursday (13 July) as the 19-year-old became the only third cricketer from the country to land a contract with a franchise in The Hundred. Ghosh has been signed by London Spirit as a replacement player for injured Georgia Redmayne.

Ghosh has become the third cricketer after Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana to get a contract with a Hundred franchise. While Indian captain Kaur plays for the Trent Rockets, Mandhana represents Souther Brave.

London Spirit have signed Ghosh for INR 13 lakhs, which is not even 10% of what the wicketkeeper batter earns with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). Nevertheless, the 19-year-old wicketkeeper batter will get a chance to play with and against some global superstars.

While Richa Ghosh will play under Heather Knight, Ghosh will have Grace Harris, Amelia Kerr, and Sarah Glenn as her teammates.
