Rishabh Pant injured in a car accident

India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was injured in a major car accident early Friday morning (December 30) at Narsan, Haridwar district. His Mercedes hit the divider when he was traveling from Delhi to Roorkee. He suffered from burn injuries but police said his condition is not serious. He was alone in the car and had to break one of the windows to save his life.

According to the police, his Mercedes GLE43 Coupe hit the divider railings at high speed on the Delhi-Haridwar highway before catching fire. The nearby villagers with the local police rescued him.

Hearing a loud sound of the accident, nearby villagers along with the local cops, rushed to the spot and pulled him out of the car. He was then rushed to a nearby hospital from where he was referred to a major hospital in Dehradun,” said Swapn Kishor Singh, superintendent of police, Haridwar (rural).

The senior police official said that Pant has sustained injuries on his forehead, a hand, and right knee but he is conscious and able to talk. “He is lucky to survive the severe accident,” the official said.

Meanwhile, the Management of Max hospital Dehradun, where Pant is undergoing treatment said that after evaluation for any possible injury, they would be able to inform about the seriousness of the injury and the treatments required. “Having said that, he is in a stable condition,” said Dr. Ashish Yagnik, medical superintendent of Max Hospital Dehradun.

Pant was driving from Delhi to Roorkee, his hometown, to surprise his mother and spend the New Year with his family. He was dropped from the T20I team for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.
