Rishabh Pant met with the chilling accident around 5:30am on December 30. He was on his way to surprise his mother in Roorkee for New Year but unfortunately, he dozed off while driving on the Delhi-Dehradun highway.

After his Mercedes car hit a road divider, it went up in flames. Somehow, Pant got out of the car without life-threatening injuries. A driver and a conductor approached the scene first and with the assistance of other men, the youngster was rushed to the Saksham Hospital in Roorkee for primary treatment.

He was later admitted in the ICU at the Max Hospital in Dehradun where he also had undergone facial, abrasion and laceration wounds surgery. The BCCI immediately updated that Pant suffered two cuts on his forehead, abrasion injuries on his back, a ligament tear in his right knee, and hurt his right wrist, ankle and toe. MRI scans of his knee and foot were postponed due to pain, but the scans on his brain returned normal results.

Pant wasn’t part of the undergoing white-ball home series against Sri Lanka. He was to head to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for strength and training before the home Test against Australia in February. He hasn’t started walking yet and most likely will miss the World Test Championship final (India’s chance to play the final looks strong), and the IPL in April-May. It is yet to be seen if he’ll become fit for the ODI World Cup in India which is slated to take place in October-November.
