“Play under MSD to get back in form!”- Rohit Sharma draws flak from Twitter fans after consistent flop show

Though fans can't see a vintage Rohit Sharma, who is 35 years old right now, they are expecting the Indian captain to at least produce a couple of brilliant knocks from his bat.

Why Rohit Sharma and his knock in the Indian Premier League (IPL) are important because he is the captain of India, plus he opens for India. Though fans on Twitter are slamming him for a flop show for the Mumbai Indians (MI) twice in a row, it’s the bigger picture the Indian cricket fraternity cares about the most- the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) and the ICC ODI World Cup.

When youngsters in the team are scoring runs, and when a team under Hardik Pandya is winning matches, the focus goes toward Pandya and the youngsters, keeping in mind the major events. Rohit must be under tremendous pressure these days. Some say he should give up his captaincy to Pandya. Though fans can’t see a vintage Rohit Sharma, who is 35 years old right now, they are expecting the Indian captain to at least produce a couple of brilliant knocks from his bat.

In recent times, Rohit, although he scores at first, fails to convert it into a huge knock, that’s what bothers most people. Fans here compare him with Virat Kohli, who survived a horrible lean patch to make a terrific comeback to cricket. Comparison between two players is the part and parcel of the discussion among the fans, especially on Twitter.

Whether Rohit can also make the comeback before the important tournaments, will be seen later. All the fans want is to see him score many runs. But as this wasn’t the case in the two matches Mumbai Indians played so far, Rohit received harsh criticism for his lack of form.

During the El Clasico of IPL, the match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rohit was all guns blazing at first, slamming a six and three fours to give a perfect start to the Mumbai Indians. But here again, he struggled to convert.

In the previous match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), it was the worst. The Mumbai Indians skipper played 10 balls and scored just one run. Certainly, an Indian player, the captain himself, and when his role is of an opener, he won’t be spared by the fans at all in a World Cup year.

Except for the century in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Rohit’s bat to some extent has remained quiet. He needs to rekindle the fire now. Fitness is another area where he needs to improve, claimed the fans.
