After the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah met with Ajit Agarkar, the chief selector of the India Team, reports came out that Rohit Sharma would continue to lead the India team in the T20Is. Previously, as per reports, Sharma had shown his reluctance to play the shortest format.

The BCCI was reportedly tried to convince Sharma to continue playing T20Is. The South Africa series will start on December 10 this year on the African continent.

Rohit won’t be playing in the ODI series and, instead, KL Rahul will lead the team because India vice-captain Hardik Pandya tore his ligament during the recently concluded 2023 ODI World Cup. And as he hasn’t recuperated, he will miss the entire series.

Sanju Samson has been added to the squad for the ODI, while Surya Kumar Yadav has been rested from this format. Virat Kohli won’t be playing the white ball series because he will take a break and will feature in the two-match Test series.

Rohit Sharma does not have much ego, feels Ravichandran Ashwin

All-rounder Hardik Pandya, who used to lead Gujarat to the titles in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has been traded to the Mumbai Indians. After the conclusion of IPL 2022, Pandya was in talks with MI and next year he will be donning the blue jersey of MI.

Many believe MI brought back Pandiya to make him the captain after Rohit Sharma. Ravichandran Ashwin, on his YouTube channel, said Rohit will handle it with grace.

Rohit does not have much ego. He is a great human being and a sound leader. He will handle it with grace (if Pandya is made MI leader).
Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

Pandya started his IPL journey with the Mumbai Indians in 2015 and won four titles with them. In 2022, he was released by MI, and Gujarat Titans (GT) made him the skipper, and he led the side to victory in their maiden appearance. And then in 2023, he guided the team to the finals but lost to MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
