For the past few days, a new development in the Mumbai Indians (MI) camp angered their fans. Even the staunch MI supporters were left disappointed. Rohit Sharma, who shouldered the leadership duties in 11 seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for MI, has been stripped of the captaincy with the duties now handed to Hardik Pandya.

Pandya led Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2022 and 2023, leading the team to the title in 2022, and another final the next season. Some reports claimed Pandya issued a captaincy ultimatum to MI for the move, which the franchise obliged and informed their decision to Rohit in a series of meetings before the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Some social media users are claiming Rohit denied being communicated the captaincy change decision, and that he got to know the news from his wife Ritika Sajdeh.

The source of the claims made by these social media users could not be found anywhere. It’s also important to note that Rohit Sharma has yet to speak on the subject publicly, so it’s safe to say that rumors of Rohit claiming he had no idea about the big change in the MI camp are fake.
