After impressive IPL performance, Sai Sudharsan will start County cricket stint with Surrey

Tamil Nadu batter, Sai Sudharsan, will be playing for Surrey County Cricket Club in the 2023/24 season. He will play the last 3 matches of the LV= County Championship. Surrey currently are at the top of Division 1, but are only 17 points ahead of Essex. 

Surrey are without batsman Ollie Pope, who is injured. Sam Curran, Will Jacks and Tom Latham are away on international duties. Sai Sudharsan has only played 8 First Class games, but averages 42.71 with 598 runs.

Sai Sudharsan will be the 4th Indian to play county cricket after Cheteshwar Pujara, Arshdeep Singh and Prtihvi Shaw. Sai will be playing matches against Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Hampshire. He last played in the Deodhar trophy, where he scored 204 runs in 3 matches. He also played for India A in the Emerging Asia Cup, where he scored a century against Pakistan

Sai Sudharsan was bought by Gujarat Titans for just Rs. 20 Lakh. Even though his price was low, he had an important hand in ensuring Gujarat Titans reach the finals in 2023. He made his IPL debut in 2022, scoring 145 runs in 5 innings. His highest came against Punjab Kings, where he scored 65 runs

In the next season, he played a much more important role. After being benched in the first few games, he finally played against Chennai Super Kings. In 8 innings, he scored 362 runs striking at 141.41. He averaged 51.71 runs. His most important knock came in the IPL finals against CSK, where he scored 96 runs off 47 balls. Coming in to bat at no. 3, Sai Sudharsan hit 8 boundaries and 6 sixes, but GT ended up losing the game thanks to knocks by Devon Conway, Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja.
