Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Akhtar shared the dressing room for many years during their playing days. And after their retirement, when they are participating in the ongoing Legends League Cricket, the two got involved in lighthearted banters, but off the field.

And due to his absence, Shahid took a cheeky dig at Akhtar over his earning money despite not playing any matches. “There’s a strong possibility of Shoiab not playing any match. Let me tell you that he’s happy because he’s earning money nevertheless,” Shahid said in a video post by Akhtar on his YouTube channel.

A couple of weeks ago, Shoaib Akhtar told a Pakistani news channel about how he would come to play, and fracture his knee during matches but still, he would take an injection and resume bowling. The Rawalpindi Express recalled his playing days while talking about Shaheen Afridi‘s injury during the final match of the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup in Australia. Pakistan faced England and Shaheen’s over could have added a new twist but the 23-year-old exited the field twice due to knee pain.

The 47-year-old believes that Shaheen should have completed his over because the World Cup is more significant and that the moment would never come again.

Akhtar’s comment provoked a response from Shahid Afridi who is also the father-in-law of Shaheen Afridi. Shaheen married Shahid’s daughter Ansha Afridi in January this year.

Shoaib Akhtar took so many injections back then that he can’t even walk now. That is his class,” Shahid told Samaa TV. “It’s very difficult to play with injury if you take injections and painkillers because, by doing so, you risk aggravating the injury further. Anyway, let’s leave Shoaib Akhtar alone!”

Though Afridi gave this befitting reply a few weeks, the video has been doing rounds on social media. Check the video below:

Meanwhile, Asia Lions have won two of the three matches they played so far and are topping the points table in the three-team tournament. They lost their last match against the India Maharajas yesterday by 10 wickets. Akhtar delivered one over and conceded 12 runs.
