Another video of Shakib Al Hasan went viral for the wrong reason. While campaigning in Magura, the cricketer was put on a stage during an event. Shakib isn’t the first active cricketer to venture into politics. Former Indian player, Vinod Kambli, contested in the Vidhan Sabha elections in 2009, two years before retiring. Bengal captain, Manoj Tiwary, is the Minister of Sports and Youth Development in West Bengal. He is currently playing in Bengal’s Ranji match with Andhra Pradesh. It is a trend for many former cricketers to venture into politics, with former Pakistan captain Imran Khan even being elected as the Prime Minister.
