India batter Shikhar Dhawan is no longer in Indian team contention but captains Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). But off the field, in his personal life, things have not been great.

He has not been able to meet his son, Zoravar, for over a year now. The reason behind this is his relationship with his ex-wife Aesha Mukerji. The two separated in October this year after the Delhi court granted the divorce on grounds of “cruelty” by his wife.

On his son’s birthday, Dhawan took to Instagram to share an emotional post. He revealed that Mukerji has blocked him on every virtual platform so he cannot call Zoravar to wish him on his birthday.

It's been a year since I saw you in person, and now, for almost three months, I've been blocked from everywhere, so post the same picture to wish you, my boy, a very Happy Birthday.
Dhawan wrote on Instagram

He added:

Papa always misses you and loves you. He's always positive, waiting with a smile for the time when we will meet again by the Grace of God.

Shikhar Dhawan has been granted permission to meet his son

The court ordered Aesha Mukerji to let Zoravar meet his father and also granted Shikhar Dhawan to meet his son in person in Australia and India. Also, Aesha was ordered to let her son visit India during the holiday season and stay with his father. And though Dhawan has been granted permission to meet his son in person he has not yet met Zoravar for a year now.

Dhawan last featured in international cricket in December last year. He played in an ODI match against Bangladesh on December 10.

The Delhi-born opener will be back again in the IPL season to captain PBKS. Last year, won six and lost eight out of the 14 matches they played to collect 12 points to sit in eighth position on the points table.
