Shoaib Bashir was brought back to the England Test side during the Ranchi Test, being dropped in the Rajkot Test. Coming in to bat when England were 347/8, he did not contribute to the innings, going for a 2-ball-duck.

When Bashir came in to bat, Sarfaraz Khan joked that Bashir wouldn’t understand Hindi, but the off-spinner surprised the middle-order batter by speaking in Hindi, which led to Khan shouting out “badhiya”.
