The auction for the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) is underway in Dubai on December 19. The Australia Stars have hit the jackpot because of their recent ODI World Cup win.

Among these Aussies, pacer Mitchell Starc was sold for a whopping Rs 24.75 crore to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), becoming the most expensive purchase in the history of the auction. Before him, it was Aussie skipper Pat Cummins who breached the Rs 20 crore mark for the first time as he got sold for Rs 20.50 crore to the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Before signing Cummins, SRH also bought another Aussie player-Travis Head for Rs 6.80 crore, who scored a century in the 2023 ODI World Cup final against India and a century in the 2023 World Test Championship (WTC) final against India as well. To congratulate his compatriot on Instagram Story, David Warner, who used to play for SRH, tagged Head and tried to repost his Story but could not. Why?

Why did the relationship between David Warner and SRH turn sour?

SRH won their only title when David Warner captained the side to glory in IPL 2016, their only title in the IPL. SRH did not include Warner in their playing XI at some point in the 2021 IPL and also sacked him as skipper. IPL 2021 was suspended for a while due to Covid-19 but when it resumed, SRH did not call back Warner.

Ahead of the 2022 IPL, Delhi Capitals signed the Aussie player and he has been playing for the franchise so far. He captained the side as well in IPL 2023 but the Capitals had a below-par season, winning five out of 14 matches.
