“Why no one supported Shreyas Iyer?”- Fans slam KKR after their defeat to RR

KKR vs RR

Shreyas Iyer, Kolkata Knight Riders’ skipper played a much-needed knock of 85 off 51 deliveries but still his innings proved to be not very helpful as RR hammered the Men in Purple with exceptional performances from their batting and bowling department.

In the match KKR won the toss and opted to bowl first. RR started their innings with a second ton from Jos Buttler. With the help of Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer, RR were able to set a massive target of 218 runs.

KKR response wasn’t great at the start as Sunil Narine sold his wicket in the very first delivery of the innings. But the moment Shreyas Iyer arrived at the crease, run chase started from scratch. With Aaron Finch, Shreyas Iyer stiched a 107-run partnership for the second wicket. At a time when KKR’ best batsmen like Andre Russell returned with a Golden Duck, Shreyas Iyer still continued smashing pacers.

But with 40 runs required in four overs, with an impressive bowling from Yuzvendra Chahal, KKR lost Venkatesh Iyer (6 off 7). Three wickets then fell consecutively and Chahal took his first hat-trick in IPL 2022.

“Captaincy comes naturally to Shreyas”- Ravi Shastri hails Shreyas Iyer

“Captaincy comes naturally to Shreyas. Look at his aggressive captaincy, you don’t feel like he’s leading KKR for the first time. Looks like he’s been captaining them for the last 3-4 seasons and it is visible through his clarity of thoughts,” Said Ravi Shastri.

“His mindset is clear about what brand of cricket he needs to play as a batter. At the same time, he’s aware of what he as a captain needs to do to take his team to the playoffs and win the title.

“’ve liked the way he’s spoken during the pre and post-match conferences and that shows he’s clear with his plans. I am convinced he’ll go a long way.”
