In 2018, the U-19 World Cup winners Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill hogged the limelight for their excellent performances. But since winning that cup, while Gill has experienced a stellar rise, Shaw’s progress has been quite slow.
Gill has cemented his spot in India’s squad in such a way that management cannot even miss including him in the playing XI. Whereas Shaw is struggling to even be in the reckoning to represent the national side. That is why, Gill’s childhood coach Karsan Ghavri launched a scathing attack on Shaw for his attitude.
“They were in the same team that won the U-19 World Cup in 2018, right? Today where is Prithvi Shaw and where is Shubman Gill? They are in two different categories,” Karsan Ghavri was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
“Shaw thinks he is a star and nobody can touch him. But he needs to understand that at the international level, irrespective of whether you are playing T20, 50 over or the Test match, or even the Ranji Trophy, it takes only one delivery to get you out,” Ghavri added. Ghavri then emphasized o the role of discipline and good temperament and consistent work on oneself. But at the same time, Ghavri believes everything is not lost yet and Shaw, 23, can still work on his flow and work hard.
