New Zealand commentator Simon Doull has often made headlines for his blasting star international cricketers on air, not caring who the player is. He had previously slammed Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and recently, during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) matches, he expressed his disappointment over Virat Kohli’s slow innings.
And now, he took a jibe at Punjab Kings (PBKS) bowler Kagiso Rabada. Rabada had delivered a couple of no-balls during the match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owing to which, the Kiwi commentator called that mistake an ‘unacceptable behavior’ because of Rabada’s being a world-class paceman.
“This is unacceptable behavior. You’re an international bowler. He’s pushing it all the time, even when he is behind he is just there by an inch,” Doull said live on-air.
His comments came when Rabada bowled his second no-ball on the fifth ball of the 16th over, then followed it by a wide. In total, the Proteas conceded a whopping 52 runs in his full quota of overs for two wickets at an economy of 13. KL Rahul (12 off nine) and Kyle Mayers (54 off 24) were his victims.

PBKS bowlers conceded 257 runs to LSG
During that match, the PBKS bowlers conceded a staggering 257 runs in 20 overs, which has now become the second-highest total in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history. RCB stand atop the list with 263 runs.
Apart from Kyle Mayers’ half-century, Ayush Badoni (43 off 24), Marcus Stoinis (72 off 40), and Nicholas Pooran (45 off 19) were the other batters who feasted on the PBKS bowlers. Punjab also gave a tough fight, reaching the 200-run mark but eventually, they fell short of 56 runs.
After the match, PBKS skipper Shikhar Dhawan admitted that the strategy to play an extra bowler backfired. “We gave away too many runs. I felt that it (the ball) didn’t come on quickly to the bat and it went straight to the fielder (on his dismissal). I felt my strategy to play an extra bowler backfired. We missed a spinner today. It’s a learning for me.”
