Madhur Mittal and Mutthiah Muralitharan
There will be a biopic on Sri Lankan legend Mutthiah Muralitharan which has been named as “800” to pay tribute to his 800 Test wickets. Slumdog Millionaire star Madhur Mittal will be in lead role.
Vijay Sethupathi was first finalized to play Muralitharan in the biopic, and two years ago, attempts have been made to make the film. But several political leaders and senior film leaders had objected to Sethupathi’s being included in the film after which Mittal has been chosen to do the role.
“The film is now being prepared by Movie Train Motion Pictures. The star-casts have already been finalized and we intent to release the same early next year. The 70% shooting of the film has already completed in Sri Lanka,” a source attached to the film said.
“More shooting will be done in India, England and Australia. The biopic, named as “800” in a tribute to Murali’s 800 Test wickets, shows more of his character and also has famous controversy, when he was no-balled a number of times by umpires in a Boxing Day Test (1995-96) in Australia,” the source added.
