SRH youngster to be summoned by POLICE ahead of 2024 IPL after model is found dead

On 20th February, Indian model and aspiring fashion designer Tania Singh was found dead in her apartment in Surat. The 28-year old was found hanging in her room without any suicide note, which left the police confused. 

Upon further investigation, they found out that she was in contact with rising IPL youngster, Abhishek Sharma. Sharma, who currently played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, is apparently a close acquaintance of the deceased model.

The police have said that they found that the cricketer was a contact in her phone records and messages. He was in fact one of the last few people she tried contacting before passing away. She had sent a message to Sharma on WhatsApp, but he didn’t reply. 

The police will further investigate Sharma’s involvement in her life, summoning him to take his statement. They will be sending him a notice soon.

Abhishek Sharma in the IPL so far

Abhishek Sharma first became a name many knew during the 2018 U19 World Cup, along with teammates Shubman Gill and Prithvi Shaw. Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) purchased him in the auction, after which he made his debut in the 2018 IPL, in which he scored 46* off 19 (on his debut).

Being released the very next season, he was purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad. He did not get a proper run until 2022. In the previous few seasons, he was being played in the lower-middle order, but the SRH management promoted him to the opening slot in 2022 after purchasing him in the 2022 auction.

In his first season as an opener, he scored 426 runs in 14 matches, with two fifties. He was known for giving fast starts as an opener and could also give overs thanks to bowling left arm spin. In the 2023 IPL, he had a drop in form, scoring only 226 runs in 11 innings. He currently is playing for the Punjab Cricket Team, where he was instrumental in their 2023/24 Syed Mushtaq Ali triumph.
