The storm started 90 minutes before the first ball on Day 2 of the first Test. The groundsmen started covering the ground, were successful to keep the entire ground covered.

From the eastern stand, sheets of corrugated iron blew off and the metal secured by the roped above the top of the sheets also got blown away by the storm.

Questions are if the play will be resumed even if rain stops until the metal sheets are properly secured.

Teams have knowledge about the past matches where the toss-winning sides have lost just four out of 15 Tests at Galle. So, he took no time to opt for batting.

On Day 1, the aussi team, with the help of the spinner, bowled out the Lankans for just 212 with Nathan Lyon completing his 20th five-wicket haul. Australian’ start wasn’t what their team had expected when the openers added 47 in just nine overs before David Warner‘s pad was hit by Kushal Mendis.
