It is a known fact that there is a lot of mutual admiration between Virat Kohli and Steve Smith. Arguably the two best batters of the current generation, they have become greats of the game during the same time, being grouped in the Fab 4.

As of now, Virat Kohli plays for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, a team he has represented since 2008. Steve Smith on the other hand has shifted team-to-team but has been unsold for the past three seasons.

A self-admitted nerd of the sport, Smith analyzes anything and everything related to cricket. With no IPL team, the former Australian captain has joined Star Sports as an analyst and in a video, he is seen praising Kohli’s cover drive.

The twist? He spoke about it in perfect Hindi. While the video does show Steve Smith speaking in Hindi, he is not actually speaking Hindi. Using artificial intelligence, Star Sports translated everything Smith said. This option is available to fans who want to watch the IPL in Hindi, but want the same analysis from the English commentators.

Steve Smith backs Virat Kohli to feature in 2024 T20 World Cup

Recently, many reports stated that Virat Kohli was set to be dropped from the Indian T20 squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup. The BCCI and their selection committee believed the 35-year-old would struggle in the slow pitches of West Indies and hence he had to be dropped.

Steve Smith completely disagrees with the notion and believes Kohli needs to stay in the team. While on Star Sports, the batter explained how Kohli wins matches for his teams and he has seen it many times.

He (Kohli) plays the situation. Some wickets you play on, your strike rate doesn't need to be high. You play according to what's in front of you. We have seen Virat play some masterclass innings and get his team over the line, whether it has been RCB or India. I've been on the opposition in the Australian team when he has done this against us on numerous occasions.

Smith last played for Delhi Capitals in 2021. Since then he has failed to secure a team, going unsold every season.
