After Pakistan’s embarrassing record 228-run loss to India, former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar reacted sharply and called out Pakistan’s batters. The 1983 World Cup-winning player believes that Pakistan do not have a good batter apart from skipper Babar Azam.

While chasing 357, no Pakistani batter could reach even the 30-run mark. Opener Fakhar Zaman top scored with 27 runs. India spinner Kuldeep Yadav ran through the batting line-up, helping India bundle out Babar Azam and Co. for just 128 runs.

Gavaskar vented his frustration by saying that he constantly hears from people in Pakistan that India have just one or two good players. He opined that the way Pakistan batted, they couldn’t have chased down the 267-run target during the group-stage match against India which got washed out due to rain.

You know people, particularly in Pakistan, keep on talking about India having only one or two players. I mean how many players does Pakistan have? Particularly in the batting department. Apart from Babar who do they have?” Sunil Gavaskar said on India Today.

Pakistan played lackluster cricket and they looked clueless both while bowling and batting. The bowlers could bag just two wickets, by dismissing the openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill who scored their respective half-centuries. The other two batters, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul slammed their respective centuries and Pakistani bowlers just couldn’t dismiss them.

After the loss, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi blasted Pakistan for not showing intent to win the match. He took to X (formerly Twitter) to vent his frustration.
