T20 World Cup winner Ben Stokes is purchased by the Chennai Super Kings for a staggering amount of money

The Chennai Super Kings have strengthened their batting and bowling as they purchased English all-rounder Ben Stokes. At the TATA IPL Auction 2023, the 4-time IPL Champions added Stokes to their squad for a high sum of Rs 16.25 crores.

Stokes, 31, was a favorite to be purchased for a high sum as he won the T20 World Cup with England and inspired his national side with some amazing performances. While teams like Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Lucknow Giants, and Sunrirsers Hyderabad fought for Stokes’ services, CSK walked out winners.

This is the first time since 2017 that Stokes entered an IPL Auction. The last time he was sold at an auction, the player was picked by Rising Pune Supergiants for 14.50 crores. After his stint with the Giants, the English player signed for Rajasthan Royals in a deal that earned him Rs 12.50 crore.

The addition of Ben Stokes to the Chennai Super Kings squad is a big positive for the team. Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, CSK fans will be interested in witnessing what Stokes can achieve.
