Jason Behrendorff

traded Australian fast bowler Jason Behrendorff from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Saturday, ahead of the auction for IPL 2023, which will take place on December 23 in Kochi. He was part of the Rohit Sharma-led franchise in the 2018 and 2019 title-winning seasons.

Behrendroff played 105 T20 matches and scalped 117 wickets at an economy of 7.41. For Australia, the left-arm fast bowler has played nine T20Is and picked up seven wickets with a best of 4/21.

In 2021, Chennai Super Kings signed him as a replacement for Josh Hazlewood but did not feature in any games. RCB acquired him at the 2022 mega-auction for his base price of INR 75 lakh, but he did not play any games throughout the tournament.

Also, Jason Behrendroff has represented in five IPLs out of which, four times, he spent on the bench. For MI, he was a part from 2018 to 2020 but only got a chance to play in 2029 when he scalped five wickets at an economy rate of 8.68. Behrendroff will join Jasprit Bumrah, Riley Meredith, Jofra Archer, and Daniel Sams in the pace department.

In his debut match in 2019, he scalped four wickets and conceded 22 runs against Chennai Super Kings but couldn’t stay with the franchise as he joined the Australia World Cup squad. It can be said that although he has represented RCB and CSK, he has played games only while being with the MI franchise.

2022 was a forgettable season for the five-time champions, as they finished last on the points table. Meanwhile, the auction for the 16th edition of the cash-rich league will take place on December 23 in Kochi.
