“No.1 batter for a reason”- Twitter reacts as lone warrior Tahlia McGrath’s glorious knock goes in vain and DC secure back-to-back win
The Warriorz could reach 169/5 in their 20 overs as DC secured their second victory comfortably by 42 runs.
Tahlia McGrath
Tahlia McGrath registered the highest score of this season’s Women’s Premier League (WPL) when she fought hard against the Delhi Capitals. With an unbeaten 90, she alone failed to take UP Warriorz to the mammoth target of 212. Apart from her, all the batters couldn’t even cross the 30-run mark. Delhi Capitals registered their second victory by 42 runs on Tuesday (March 7) at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Chasing the huge target, Alyssa Healy looked dangerous. Right from the word go, she was all guns blazing, before she edged the ball to Radha Yadav off Jess Jonassen’s delivery in the fourth over. In that same over, Jess Jonassen got rid of Kiran Navgire, while in the fifth over Marizanne Kapp dismissed Shweta Sehrawat.
At one end, Tahlia McGrath kept smashing but she did not get any support from the other end. Her unbeaten knock of 90 off just 50 balls included 11 boundaries and four maximums at a huge strike rate of 180. Though she couldn’t alone take their score past the target, she did register the highest-ever score in this tournament.
The Warriorz could reach 169/5 in their 20 overs as DC secured their second victory comfortably by 42 runs. While among the bowlers, Jonassen got three wickets, and Marizanne Kapp and Shikha Pandey got one each.
