“Thankyou Kohli. Awful knock,” Twitterati criticize Virat Kohli for sluggish knock against Punjab Kings

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) stand-in captain for the match against Punjab Kings, Virat Kohli attracted massive criticism for his sluggish knock. Kohli scored a 47-ball 59 while opening the innings for RCB alongside Faf du Plessis. While Kohli scored at a brisk rate in the powerplay, the RCB skipper slowed down considerably after the field restrictions were removed. Kohli struggled to score freely against spinners as well as slower balls from the pacers.

While Kohli aggregated 29 runs off 19 balls in the first six overs, the RCB stand-in captain could only manage 15 runs off the next 18 balls he faced. As a result, RCB managed to score 71 runs in the middle overs (7-15). Also, the RCB skipper got out playing a weird shot against Harpreet Brar.

This sluggish knock from Kohli certainly did not sit well with the cricket fans on Twitter as they came hard at the batter. Most of them criticized Kohli for slowing down post the powerplay which resulted in a below-par total for RCB.
