Former India captain Virat kohli has been going through a prolonged rough patch. He hasn’t scored a century since November 2019. Not only that, his scores in IPL and international matches were below average.

In the rescheduled fifth Test between India and England, Kohli failed to contribute needed runs, nor he could score in the concluded T20I series between the same countries. In the ODI, he was expected to score runs because there, he will have more time and less pressure than T20Is. However, a mild groin injury ruled him out of the first ODI. He was included in the squad in the second ODI but scored only 16 runs. The second ODI, which was played yesterday at the iconic Lord’s, India lost the match by 100 runs.

Pakistan’s white-ball captain Babar Azam shared a post on Twitter on Thursday, July 14 where he backed the out-of-form Virat Kohli. He wrote: “This too shall pass. Stay strong.”

Pakistan batter Imam-ul-Haq said that it’s too early to compare Babar Azam with Virat Kohli. But as his best friend, Imam-ul-Haq wants that by the end of Azam’s carrer, he should accumulate three to four thousand runs more than Kohli in every format.

“Virat Kohli is a legend and there’s no doubt about that. If someone has played 240 plus matches and someone 80, then you can’t compare them,” Imam said in string of interviews on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. “If you compare their careers right now, then Babar is way ahead, but as my best friend and captain of Pakistan, I want him to break plenty of Kohli’s records.”

“But right now, I can’t understand the comparisons. One has more than 10,000 runs. Yes, at the end of their careers, I want Babar to score 3 to 4 thousand runs more than Kohli in every format,” Imam added.
