Delhi Capitals’ game against Punjab under doubt as this foreign player tests positive for COVID-19

A second foreign layer from Delhi Capitals has tested positive for COVID. On Wednesday, Rapid Antigen Test was conducted and he happens to be the sixth one in the positive list. Also, it’s being reported that another test will be conducted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India before Delhi’s match against Punjab Kings later this evening.
It’s being learned that with those players who have returned negative result will play the match. At first Mitchell Marsh was tested positive and the game was shifted from Pune’s MCA Stadium to Brabourne Stadium to reduce the transmission
BCCI stated the reason: “To avoid any further incident due to any undetected case during a long-distance bus journey in a closed environment.”

What is the IPL regulation for COVID outbreak?
PTA carried out a news report where it claimed that another foreign player is Tim Seifert. Tim Seifert had also contracted the virus last season.
“As far as we know, Tim Seifert of New Zealand has tested positive,” said a BCCI source.
“We were tested in the morning and we will be tested again shortly. We continue to be isolated,” said a player on the condition of anonymity.
Last week Delhi physio Patrick Farhart and sports massage therapist Chetan Kumar had tested positive and Marsh was hospitalized. Social media content team member Akash Mane and team doctor Abhijit Salvi also returned positive tests on Monday.
As per the IPL regulations, a minimum of 12 players including seven overseas players are needed for the game in case of a COVID outbreak. Also match could be scheduled if the minimum player requirement is not met.
Last year, due to multiple Covid cases across four teams, organizers suspended the IPL before it was completed in UAE in September-October.
