“Tough to replace him”- MS Dhoni on Ravindra Jadeja’s absence vs Mumbai Indians
MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja
Defending Champions Chennai Super Kings had walked out to the field without the services of their best fielder Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a rib injury. CSK had made the announcement on Wednesday evening.
While playing against their so called “arch-rivals” Mumbai Indians, MS Dhoni had said that it’s difficult to have a replacement like Jadeja while fielding.

“Someone like a Jaddu, he is one of those who helps us try out different combinations. It’s tough to replace him, don’t think anyone can field better, no replacement in that aspect,” MS Dhoni said at the toss.
There have been speculations that there might be a possible ‘rift’ between Jadeja and the franchise and that Jadeja might not play for CSK in the future. Also, reports have surfaced about CSK unfollowing Ravindra Jadeja on Instagram.
“In the CSK camp there is no clarity on injuries”- Aakash Chopra
“For Chennai I had said that Jadeja won’t play the match and I have a feeling that he might not be there next year too,” cricket commentator Aakash Chopra had said on his YouTube channel.
He the cited Suresh Raina’s example, “This happened a lot in the CSK camp that there is no clarity on injuries and then a player doesn’t play. I remember it was in 2021 that Suresh Raina played till a point and after that thing came to an end, That’s it, TATA.
“So, I don’t know what is the case with Jaddu (Jadeja), but his absence will be a problem for CSK,” Chopra said.
Meanwhile, MI had won the toss and decided to bowl first. CSK batsmen scattered like a pack of cards except for MS Dhoni who walked out during the power play and stayed at the crease till the end. They have scored their second lowest total, 97, in this match.
