“Sab kuch mere uper hi chhor do!”- Twitter erupts as Sam Curran’s glorious knock helps PBKS post huge total vs MI
Owing to his and Harpreet Singh's knocks, not to forget Jitesh Sharma's cameo, PBKS posted a mammoth total of 214/8 in their 20 overs.
Sam Curran
Punjab Kings (PBKS) all-rounder and stand-in skipper Sam Curran shut critics in style with his brilliant half-century against Mumbai Indians on Saturday (April 22) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Owing to his and Harpreet Singh’s knocks, not to forget Jitesh Sharma’s cameo, PBKS posted a mammoth total of 214/8 in their 20 overs.
In PBKS’ previous match, Curran was criticized for his lazy running between the wicket. He has now compensated for that mistake by scoring 55 runs from just 29 balls with five boundaries and four maximums at an incredible strike rate of 189.66. PBKS would have added more runs on the scoreboard had Curran did not become Jofra Archer‘s caught and bowled victim on the last ball of the penultimate over.
In the previous over, Cameron Green bowled Harpreet Singh out, who had scored 41 runs from 28 balls with four boundaries and two sixes. Jitesh Sharma‘s blitzkrieg of 25 runs from seven balls in the last over took PBKS to 214/8.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to field first. PBKS had a decent start but slowly they started losing wickets. Despite that, the batters did contribute runs. Prabhsimran Singh scored 26 off 17 and Atharva Taide added 29 from 17 balls. Liam Livingstone flopped (10 off 12).
A total of 96 runs was scored in the last five overs. Among the MI bowlers, Piyush Chawla and Cameron Green got two wickets each, while Arjun Tendulkar, Jason Behrendorff, and Jofra Archer got one each.
