“Padosiyo! Sabse pahle main hi final pohucha!”- Memes flood on Twitter as Pakistan storms into the final after thrashing New Zealand

Pakistan defeat New Zealand by seven wickets
Pakistan‘s destructive opening duo produced an exemplary performance to thrash New Zealand at the SCG in the semi-final to become the first finalist of the T20 World Cup 2022 (Wednesday, November 6). Against all odds, Pakistan’s uplifting themselves in the big matches is no less than a miracle.
The Men in Green faced a heartbroken defeat from arch-rivals India, and soon they were stunned by Zimbabwe by one run. They somehow won the last three matches comfortably, but it wasn’t enough. When they lost all hopes of reaching the semi-final, a shocking defeat of the Proteas from the Dutch revived their hope, and soon after a comfortable victory over Bangladesh, they became the last team to qualify for the semi-final.
Coming to the first semi-final, at first, tight bowling led by Shaheen Afridi restricted the Kiwis to just 152/4. What else the Pakistani spectators would need other than to watch their favorite opening duo Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan‘s form return in the all-important semi-final. Their partnership crossed the 100-run mark for the third time in the World Cups.
Both Babar and Rizwan completed their half-centuries. Wicketkeeper Devon Conway failed to dismiss Babar when he was on zero, and soon the Kiwis faced the wrath of that mistake. A poor fielding ensured Babar’s men a comfortable seven-wicket victory to cruise to the final which they reached since 2009.
“The way the team performed in the last three matches…. Thanks to the crowd, feels like we are playing at home. We had a good start in the first six overs and later on we had a good spin attack. The fast bowlers also finished very well. Our plan before going inside was to utilise the first six overs and later on everyone can come and chip in. I think he [Haris] is a young guy and showing his aggression. We will enjoy this moment, but at the same time we will focus on the final,” said Babar at the post-match presentation.
