The 41st match of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) saw another 200-plus score. CSK star Devon Conway is to be given the credit for this, for he played a blazing innings to drive the team to a whopping 200/4 on Sunday (April 30) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
CSK skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to bat first. The Yellow Jersey openers, Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad again gave a brilliant start to the innings with the former playing the role of an aggressor. Gaikwad rather played sluggishly, contributing 37 runs from 31 balls when, in the 10th over, he became Sikandar Raza’s victim.
After him, Shivam Dube played 17 balls to score 28 runs, before he was sent packing by Arshdeep Singh. Then CSK lost two wickets, of Moeen Ali (10 off six) and Ravindra Jadeja (12 off 10).
But despite these small scores by the other batters, Conway’s unbeaten 92 runs from 52 balls did not add pressure on the batters. His knock had a six and a whopping 16 boundaries, and he also batted at a strike rate of 176.92. MS Dhoni also smashed two sixes off the last two balls and took CSK to 200/4 in their 20 overs.
