Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma looked great today with the bat. He ended his half-century draught after 25 innings in MI’s third match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday (April 11) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. It was his first IPL since IPL 2021.
He took 29 runs to reach 50. But on the fifth ball of the 17th over, Abishek Porel pulled off a stunning catch to dismiss the Mumbai skipper off Mustafizur Rahman’s delivery. Rohit and Ishan Kishan (31 off 26) gave a great start to the innings at first, stitching a 71-run stand between them.
But before that when everything was going well for Mumbai Indians, Mukesh Kumar scalped two back-to-back wickets. Tilak Varma scored 41 runs from 29 balls with four and four sixes but gave away his wicket to Mukesh’s full ball with a catch by Manish Pandey.
On the next ball, Mukesh dismissed Suryakumar Yadav for a golden duck. This batter is certainly going through a lean patch. Fans are hoping for his comeback in Mumbai’s next match. It’s painful to see the best T20I batters in the world going through such a phase.

When Tim David entered, it was expected he gives Mumbai a much-needed victory. Both he and Cameron Green did not disappoint and took the team over the line when two runs were needed off one ball.
Earlier, Delhi Capitals looked weak at first. They were reeling at 98/5, Axar Patel entered, and played a glorious knock, scoring 54 off 25 balls with four boundaries and five maximum at a strike rate of 216. His knock helped DC reach a respectable total of 172. They lost the match by six wickets and notably, it was their four one on the trot.
