So what if their star opener Jos Buttler is seen struggling this season, the youngsters are doing great for Pink Jersey, and their contributions in this match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) drove them to a massive 202/5 in their 20 overs on Thursday (April 27) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

After winning the toss, RR skipper Sanju Samson rather chose to bat first and this decision did not backfire, for they got off to a flying start and would score brilliantly in the Powerplay. Yashasvi Jaiswal was to be given the credit, for Buttler flopped in this match. Last year’s Orange Cap holder is having a mixed season in this IPL. He was sent into packing by Ravindra Jadeja after adding 27 runs from 21 balls.

Nevertheless, after Buttler, entered Sanju Samson but after a sloppy start, he would also head back to the dugout scoring 17 runs from the same number of deliveries. It was Jaiswal’s turn to take a long walk back to the hut when he fell pray to Tushar Deshpande’s length delivery in the 14th over after playing a brilliant knock of 77 runs from 43 balls at a strike rate of 179.07, and his innings was also laced with eight boundaries and four sixes.

Shimron Hetmyer couldn’t explode this time as Maheesh Theekshana made him his victim. The Pink Brigade might have anticipated a collapse but that did not happen thanks to the young Dhruv Jurel and Devdutt Padikkal.

Jurel’s 15-ball 34-run knock had two sixes and three boundaries and he batted at an incredible strike rate of 226.67. Though CSK keeper MS Dhoni ran him out in the last over, Jurel departed after ruining CSK’s momentum in the middle overs.

Talking about Padikkal’s innings, he smashed five boundaries, scoring 27* off 13 balls, and took the team to 202/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Amongst the CSK bowlers, Tushar Deshpande got two, while Maheesh Theekshana and Ravindra Jadeja got wicket one each.
