A bidding war for English all-rounder Sam Curran was expected before the auction. When his name came up, in the blink of an eye, the price started started rising. He entered the auction for a base price of INR 2 crore.

First Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, and Royal Challengers Bangalore started bidding, but RR stopped midway as they don’t have enough money in their purse. Then entered Punjab and went to war wth Chennai Super Kings.

Curran first crossed Ben Stokes by becoming the most expensive English player. Curran then crossed KL Rahul’s 18 crores, and at 18.50, Punjab Kings roped him. Curran has now become the most expensive player in the history of IPL.

Curran was the Player of the Match and Player of the Series in the T20 World Cup 2022. He played a crucial role in England’s lifting of the cup for the second time by beating Pakistan at the MCG.
