Royal Challengers Bangalore’s star all-rounder Ellyse Perry slammed her maiden half-century in their match against UP Warriorz on Friday (March 10) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. She and Sophie Devine were the only run-scorers from RCB. Apart from them, all the other batters failed to cross the 20-run mark.

RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana won the toss and opted to bat first. Mandhana faltered once again when Rajeshwari Gayakwad dismissed her in the fourth over. Mandhana failed to loft the ball properly and Anjali Sarvani at extra covers grabbed a sitter. Later Devine became Sophie Ecclestone’s victim when the former tried to cut it but missed the ball and it went on to rattle the stumps.

One by one, RCB lost their batters quickly. Despite that, Perry stayed glued to the crease and completed her half-century. She mashed six boundaries and a six to score 52 runs from 39 balls before Deepti Sharma dismissed her in the 17th over. Deepti tossed it up, while Perry tried to slog sweep. But she failed to generate power and subsequently ended up giving a catch to Tahlia McGrath at deep mid-wicket.

After Perry’s dismissal, RCB’s score read 125/6. Left batters could add just 13 runs and soon got bundled out for a defendable total of 138 in 19.3 overs. Sophie Ecclestone was the wrecker-in-chief as she completed her four-wicket haul for just 13 runs.
