This match between the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was one of the most awaited clashes at the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). CSK’s Devon Conway and Shivam Dube, plus a cameo from Moeen Ali propelled the Yellow jersey to a commanding total of 226/6 on Monday (April 17) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

RCB skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to field first. Mohammed Siraj with the new ball gave the first breakthrough by restricting the dangerous opening duo of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway from going big in the Powerplay. Siraj got rid of Gaikwad to the delight of the RCB fans.

However, when Ajinkya Rahane entered the crease, he quickly played a blitzkrieg, scoring 37 runs from 20 balls with three fours and two sixes, and before he could do more damage, Wanindu Hasaranga dismissed him in the 10th over.

But that did not add pressure on Conway as he scored his half-century and exited the field when Harshal Patel dismissed him in the 16th over. CSK had all the momentum as after Conway’s dismissal, their score read 170/3. Conway had played a knock of 83 runs from just 45 balls with six boundaries and the same number of sixes.

In the next over, Shivam Dube, who was hammering the RCB bowlers alongside Conway became Wayne Parnell’s victim. He batted at a strike rate of 192.59 and scored 52 runs from 27 balls with two boundaries and five maximums.

Later, Ambati Rayudu joined the party and smashed a six and a four. Moeen Ali’s cameo of an unbeaten 19 runs from nine balls with two sixes powered the side to a massive total of 226/6.
