After a win in the second T20I, West Indies have levelled up the series 1-1 of the five-match T20I series against India. Both the teams are now locking-horns on Tuesday, August 2 at the Warner Park in St Kitts.
India had won the toss and opted to bowl first. West Indies opener Brandon King and Kyle Mayers walked out to bat first and started good. They had stitched a 57-run partnership between them before a ball from Hardik Pandya bowled him out. Pandya bowled a length ball around off and King just lost his shape a bit and the ball took the inside edge and knocked over the leg stump and India got a breakthrough.
Mayers was the highest scorer as he smashed eight boundaries and four sixes to score 73 runs off 50 balls but he on 16.2 overs, he became a victim of Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s slower and a wider ball. Mayers tried to pull it down the ground but got a top edge and the ball went up and around the gully region. Wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant grabbed a simple catch to dismiss Mayers.
Apart from Mayers, no other batters could get past even 30 runs. West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran scored 22 runs off 23 balls and in 14.4 overs, Bhuvneshwar sent him back to the dressing room with a short ball. Pooran tried to swing it but got an outside edge and Pant pouched it safely.
Rovman Powell scored a quick 24 runs off 14 balls with two fours and a six before pacer Arshdeep Singh dismissed him. Shimron Hetmyer scored 20 runs off 12 balls and Suryakumar Yadav run-out him. At the end, West Indies could score only 164/5. Bhuvneshwar scalped two wickets while Pandya and Arshdeep picked up one wicket respectively.
