Hardik Pandya-led India had won the toss and opted to bat first. Ishan Kishan opened the innings instead of Rohit Sharma. But he scored only 11 runs off 13 balls at an impressive strike rate of 160 Shreyas Iyer scored most runs for India. He smashed eight fours and two sixes to score 64 runs off 40 balls and got dismissed by Jason Holder. Holder delivered a slower-yorker but it turned out to be a low full toss outside off. Iyer tried to fetch it from there but the ball took the toe end of the bat and lobbed back to Holder and he caught it.

Deepak Hooda scored 38 runs off 25 balls including three fours and two sixes. In 11.4 over, Hayden Walsh Jr. served it flat and outside leg. Hooda skipped down the track and made room to try to heave it across the line. The ball came from the inner half of his bat and flied to deep mid-wicket. Shamrah Brooks settled it underneath and broke the dangerous 76-run stand between Hooda and Iyer.

Sanju Samson scored 15 runs off 11 balls while Hardik Pandya scored a 16-ball 28 runs. At the end, India’s score read 188/7 in their alloted 20 overs. Oden Smith was the most successful bowler for the host as he scalped three wickets.
