Ex-India Pacer Venkatesh Prasad has been very vocal online on the topic regarding the Indian team. He has constantly criticized KL Rahul for not performing as the Test opener and has called for him to be dropped plenty of times. During the Border Gavaskar Trophy in 2023, he called his performances below par. 

He has said players like Mayank Agarwal, Shikhar Dhawan, and Hanuma Vihari who’ve made a better impact in Test cricket deserve to start ahead of Rahul, but don’t get the long run because of favoritism. He called out the team management for letting Rahul retain his place despite averaging 33 in Tests. KL Rahul was soon dropped for Shubman Gill.

But recently, Venkatesh Prasad posted a photo of him and Suniel Shetty. Prasad wrote, “Visited the Swami Narayan temple in New Jersey with Anna. Prayed for well being of all Bharatvasis & for the Indian Team to do well in the World Cup. Also secretly prayed for KL to smash it to all corners, have a great world cup and silence his critics like me. Sab khush rahein,”. Fans found the picture hilarious and started reacting in the same way.

What’s the funny thing about it? Suniel Shetty is KL Rahul’s father-in-law. KL Rahul dated his daughter, Athiya Shetty, for a couple of years and married her in January 2023. Many fans started cracking jokes as the situation seemed really funny.

KL Rahul, after picking up injury during the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), was not part of international cricket for a while. He has recuperated and has been selected for the Indian team for the upcoming 2023 Asia Cup and will most likely play in the 2023 World Cup as well. Let’s see if Venkatesh Prasad’s prayers work out for him.
